Library expands Sunday hours to Leigh Square

The branch opens Sundays from October, paid for by a reallocation rather than new money.

PORT COQUITLAM — The library board voted to open the Leigh Square branch on Sundays from October, noon to five.

The hours are paid for by reallocating from weekday evenings, which the board's own usage figures show as the quietest block in the week — a trade that drew objection from two trustees who argued evening hours matter most to shift workers.

The change is set to be reviewed after six months against door counts and program registrations.
